I was mesmerised by Carol Kane in “Scrooged” playing The Ghost of Christmas Present. The cute but violent fairy - antagonising Bill Murray and literally beating him over the head into seeing what an awesome disappointment he was to everyone around him. Her ballgown, her makeup, her stars, her hair, her voice - I’ve never not enjoyed her in a film. A wonderful actress and an iconic beauty to me. I wish she was on IG to tag her in my proudest piece yet - a pen and ink homage to this endearing, insane apparition. Who else loves Carol?

Anyone else go full goblin when doing a hobby or task?

I am now someone who wears Oodies and I still don’t like to be seen by anyone in the house wearing it, despite the fact it was gifted to me by a dear friend - it feels like I’ve hit fashion rock bottom when I wear it, as someone who had this vision of herself as a Norma Desmond type, swanning about the home in silks and velvets - but hey, it’s UK winters and heating is expensive, so I am grateful for this wearable blanket.

What do you use to keep warm on a winters eve? Rude answers only.

HEATHCLIFF! I’ve just had the pleasure, or displeasure, of reading Wuthering Heights for the FIRST time. I was captivated, riveted, enraged, shocked, pissed off, sad, heartbroken then relieved. WHAT A BOOK!!! I can’t believe I have left it my whole life to read, especially when I’ve been a big fan of the other Brontë sisters’ work.

So - here’s my homage to the most toxic pair of red flags you’ll ever read about. A love story my arse - two absolute sacks of selfish excrement that deserved one another. But, you also can’t help falling in love with them a little bit too, eh? Especially if you have an anxious attachment style.

This A3 beauty was all done in watercolour and gouache and I am VERY pleased with the outcome. Original is for sale and I’m going to put it to auction here on IG with a £1 starting bid for it this week!

2025 is almost over so here’s some reflections on my art and personal journey this year. The last few weeks have slowed down on personal projects but that is going to be my sole focus for the next few months. I’ve learned a lot about balance this year and how to juggle it all. I’ve always struggled with the ability to say no but I’ve gotten better this year and in some cases, am glad I didn’t say no! What things have you learned or discovered about yourself or your creative pursuits this year?

2025 is almost over so here’s some reflections on my art and personal journey this year. I made a portrait of my beautiful friend @polyampinup for her birthday and I think I did a bang up job if I do say so myself - and Sophia was very pleased too. If my art is good enough to hang on MY wall, it’s good enough to give to another. Sophia is a walking pin-up with a love for Dad-rock, so I wanted to give this a Bowie vibe and capture her coolness along with red hot sauciness. Happy birthday darling! ❤️

I’m ALWAYS making this mistake when drawing portraits - every single time. Thankfully I have a big supply of rubbers - no, not that kind, you filthy animal.

I’m so glad of my obsessive personality otherwise I may have not bothered picking up a pencil once I discovered boys and booze. The 1997 release of Titanic became a major obsession for me and I spent hours every evening drawing Kate and Leo, not only from Titanic but other films they starred in. I’ve kept these drawings since and love to get them out periodically and see how far I’ve come. Do you still have any drawings from your teens? 💙

I got so wrapped up in this that when I finished, I needed to pee immediately on the side of a Loch. Sorry Nessie.

Absolutely loved @thepeculiarmarket this weekend and cracked up at the things people said about my art. Putting yourself out there to the public is really terrifying, but so helpful in getting feedback, both good and bad. I love seeing how strangers react. I’m sure my friends and loved ones aren’t fibbing to me, but to have a stranger tell you they love your work is pretty cool! And it helps to grow a thicker skin, especially when a young lad says I DO NOT LIKE ANY OF IT 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 fair play kid 🖤🖤🖤

I see a lot of posts about “following your dreams” and whilst it’s a lovely sentiment, often accompanied with beautiful inspiring artwork, it doesn’t sit right with me. Sure do the work, but not everyone has the opportunity to do what they love for work, or indulge their passion full time. Applying yourself and growing is important and necessary, but it’s not always going to work out. And that’s okay. What do you think?

Life is absurd and insane. Perhaps Camus was right about Sisyphus. I create art for myself and to make others laugh/delight/ooh and ahh. But what for ultimately? It’s not going to change the world. It’s not going to solve problems. It’s not even edible! Well, I guess anything is edible if you’re brave enough. Some days it’s hard to pick up the pen when I’d rather reach for the remote. But then I wouldn’t make these crazy, angry, terrified women. Who can relate?

I recently watched a film called The Great Beauty about an ageing author and socialite of Rome who realises perhaps he wasted his life chasing beauty, whilst the movie itself being one of the most visually beautiful films I’ve ever seen. Beauty is glorious in all forms, however you view it. I love painting beautiful faces because I used to feel dreadful about myself. Now I feel I wasted so much time worrying about something that really didn’t matter all that much. Youth is wasted on the young, hey?

Silver foil can be a bit tricky to say the least. You need to glue and lay at a very crucial moment and if you fail - well on your head be it. This was the scary attempt at brushing excess silver leaf and it was okay, but there have been times it’s been hairy and too soon leaving behind a gluey sheen! Not in this case thankfully x

Silver foil can be a bit tricky to say the least. You need to glue and lay at a very crucial moment and if you fail - well on your head be it. This was the scary attempt at brushing excess silver leaf and it was okay, but there have been times it’s been hairy and too soon leaving behind a gluey sheen! Not in this case thankfully x

The birthday gift worth waiting for. I painted this portrait of my dear friend Dana with one request “add a praying mantis” - her favourite insect. I am SO happy with how this turned out. One attempt went horribly wrong and had me want to do a Francis Bacon to it. Thankfully I got it together and recomposed the painting and myself. When it finally clicks into place it’s the most satisfying flow of energy and creativity. All done in watercolours, gouache, pencils and silver leaf. Happy belated birthday @danaforlano - love you 🩷

I can barely navigate a surfboard on lovely tense water - if I actually had to fly a broom, I’d end up in a head injury unit and need a maxillofacial surgeon or just a good set of turkey teeth. Good job flying on a broomstick isn’t a prerequisite for adult life eh? Hard enough getting a job and remembering to wash. I gave it a go at the Wicked experience in Westfield the other day. You get started on something creative, it feels GREAT, you have a little chocolate snack, more chocolate snack, CHOCOLATE, you tell the pens to f*$k off, you drop the pens, you can’t blend the colours properly, you’ve regressed, you’re 5 again, you are tired but want to scroll Vinted instead, suddenly you have a piece of sh1t in your lap and you don’t know why you’ve become a talentless hack in one evening. Then you realise why….. 🩸

My disappointed womb won’t stop me attempting this new piece again, but perhaps it’s time for hot water bottle and cups of tea. And chocolate 🍫

I decided to recreate this recent drawing in pen and ink only and boy oh boy - I love it. I was inspired by some art deco artwork I’ve got on my Pinterest board and the results came out beautifully.

I used @ohuhuart fine liners with @posca_uk pens and had the best time. More of this to come.

I love being a mixed media artists and having the ability to move from oil painting to watercolour to pen and ink and now pastel - it has been important to me to learn different techniques and have discipline in all areas, but I love pens.

What an awesome day with an awesome person! @kreneewood was very kind to show me how to properly use oil pastels rather than the previous botched attempts like Dr Nick performing surgery. HI EVERYBODY! I now feel like a child whose stabilisers have been removed from the bike. Fantastic conversations and wonderful treatment from the staff @beechhousesta - LOVED TODAY 🩷🩷🩷🩷

🧜🏻‍♀️Plot twist: the mermaid was real along. Turns out I don’t need gills to live underwater - just a sequin dress, pearl necklace and a lot of silliness. My pen and ink mermaids at the end of this reel are partly inspired by this amazing day on the Isle of Wight with dear friends last summer of 2024, mucking about in fancy gowns on the beach.

Good god. What a legacy of beauty! The write up for this exhibition impressed me the most - whoever wrote it did it in the tone of Beaton: catty, caustic, creative, clever. My favourite quote of his is how he referred to Princess Margaret as a “pocket monster”. I’m sure I’d have had fun with him until he was a bitch to me and scratched out of my phone book so hard that the page would be ripped to shreds. But Christ he’d had taken a good photo. The technicolour surrealist fashion and movie star shots are my favourite but I got to see some of his early work of his beautiful sisters. My sister can take amazing photos. I’m okay. I’d love to have that eye! Inspiring stuff and highly recommend if you find yourself in London. Had the most wonderful evening with my babeilicious friend @shadowfalconx 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜

🥰 Nostalgia trip back to 1997! I created this children’s book when I was 12. My baby sister had just been born so I dedicated it to her. It is about a young hippo, separated from his family and struggling with his weight. I was being severely bullied at the time of creating this, so I found humour and release in making light of it in my art. The bullying got so bad, my parents had to call the police after a particularly severe beating. The girls would pretend to be my friend, lure me into a false sense of security, then beat the hell out of me - jeering one another one as they did it. Even one of their Mother’s watched once - encouraging her daughter to pick up a nearby watering can to smash around my head. This went on for most of my early puberty. One of the cruelest things I remember, which funnily enough isn’t the physical violence, but on a day they were being nice to me and I let them come and play in my room. I had to go to the bathroom and when I came back, they abruptly left. I discovered they’d swapped out all of my VHS tapes into the wrong cases and moved all of the Polly Pockets and Pound Puppies into the wrong houses/boxes. I was a very lucky child in that I had a nice home, a good education and lots of lovely things - I realise they were very broken children from violent, neglectful homes. But still, that kind of thing is so damaging, hey? I’d like to think things are easier to root out these days - but I’d imagine it’s even worse with modern technology. Hope you enjoy the silly children’s book anyway 🧡

Who loves foxes? They are my FAVOURITE animal, but I hardly draw them. All of these foxy videos were taken on my birthday three years ago at a wonderful animal sanctuary outside of London. I got to hand feed the rescued fur farm foxes - and it gave me a new found respect for them when feeling the power of their jaws and seeing how strong and daring they were. What an experience. I must paint more.

I love love love dressing up. Ever since I refused to remove the medieval princess gown in playschool - hiding under a table until my Mum had to get me and have it removed, I knew a life of glamour was ahead. And so it has been so far! But, when painting, I become unrecognisable. A silent disco of slobbery fills my day. I’ve been tempted to get a pretty apron and totter about the studio - but…. Nahhhhh 🤣🤣🤣

Thankfully none of that today for the super fun event with @ballgownblitz as always 💚💚💚
